Services
When you hire GLOW Family Doulas, you can be sure you will receive the best care and support possible. We provide support without bias or judgment, in whatever choices you make for your family.
All of our services begin with a phone call and an in-person meeting at no charge.
The phone call initiates the doula-client relationship. It is the time to discuss your goals for your birth or postpartum period and how your doula can support you in reaching them.
The in-person consultation is the perfect time for you and your partner to ask any questions you may have and to assess compatibility with the doula.
Labor Support
Our Labor Support package includes a prenatal meeting; 24/7 text message, phone, or email support; in-person support during and immediately after your labor and birth; phone support through your first week postpartum; and a postpartum meeting. Let’s look a bit closer at what that all means.
Prenatal Meeting: During this meeting, you and your doula will talk about your overall wishes for your birth and go over specific scenarios in order to draw up your birth plan and discuss how your doula will support you through that plan.
24/7 on-call support: For every question or concern that pops up during your pregnancy, your doula is just a phone call (or text message, or email) away. Instead of searching for hours on google, you can trust your doula has the expert knowledge to assist and reassure you through whatever uncertainty you are facing.
In-person support during and immediately after labor and birth: Your doula will be ready to support you physically, emotionally, and educationally in whatever way you need during your labor and birth. Some examples are:
- Labor and pushing positions and techniques
- Massage/Counter-pressure to ease discomfort and promote relaxation
- Reminding you and your partner to hydrate and eat as needed
- Reassuring you through the many emotions that come with labor and childbirth
- Providing information about pain relief options, interventions, and answering questions you may have
- Helping establish breastfeeding directly after birth
- Guiding you through the basics of caring for your new baby
Postpartum phone support: You might have questions during the first few days of your baby’s life. Your doula can answer any questions you have regarding postpartum healing, infant care, and the transition of adding a new baby to your family.
Postpartum Meeting: Your doula will schedule this meeting with you to check-in, talk about your birth, assist with any concerns you might have, and discuss needs for further services or support.
Postpartum Support
The transition your family goes through when bringing a new baby home can be so rewarding and filled with joy, and also confusing, and exhausting, and harder than you thought it would be. That’s okay!
You can trust in the expert postpartum care provided by GLOW Family Doulas. Whether you need an extra set of hands around the house, someone to care for baby (and siblings) while you shower or nap, someone who has the knowledge to answer your questions, or just a listening ear, your doula will be there.
